The current NJ Motor Vehicle Commission rule does not allow the use of rear view back up cameras or parking senors during a road test.
Assembly Bill A2789 was issued to change the rule and allow the use of those parking aids.
On June 27th the Bill passed the by the Senate 39-0 in favor of the law.
As of May 2018 all newly manufactured vehicles will be required to be equipped with a backup camera. The intent is to allow a person to use this technology while taking a road test.
