Are you 16?
Here are the steps to driving legally in NJ:
1) Pass the written test in High School OR take the written test at the Motor Vehicle Commission Agency OR at a licensed driving school office with a NJ licensed instructor. Parents can not take a 16 yr old to the MVC for the written test without an instructor.
2) Have a licensed NJ driving instructor go to the MVC and present ID (Birth Certificate with a raised seal or US Passport - no copies) to purchase the Student Permit.
3) Complete the required 6-hours behind the wheel driving instruction with the driving school.
4) The school will then validate your Student Permit and schedule your road test in 6 months and the student is 17 years of age.

ALL 6 HOUR STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE FOR INSURANCE REDUCTION
